The electric valve positioner is a key accessory for pneumatic control valves, serving to convert the electrical signal output by the control unit into a pneumatic signal that actuates the valve. It provides precise valve positioning by counteracting both stem friction and the unbalanced forces caused by fluctuations in process pressure, enabling the valve to respond rapidly and accurately in accordance with the control signal from the controller. This ensures rapid valve positioning and enhances the overall control performance of the valve.
Working Principle of Intelligent Pneumatic Valve Positioners for Adjusting Output Air Supply Pressure
  1) Output pressure regulation employs PID pulse-width modulation (PWM) technology, ensuring rapid and accurate control. The CPU controls the piezoelectric valve using a five-step switching sequence, enabling precise and swift adjustment of the output air supply pressure. The control algorithm typically utilizes digital PID regulation: the CPU performs PID calculations based on the magnitude and direction of the deviation between the input signal and the valve position, and then outputs a PWM pulse-width-modulated signal to control the opening and closing actions of the piezoelectric valve.
  2) The adoption of a novel piezoelectric valve device ensures high-precision control. The core component of the piezoelectric valve is a piezoelectric flexible switching valve, also known as a silicon micro-control valve. Due to its light mass and extremely low switching inertia, it can operate at very high switching frequencies, functioning as a high-frequency pulse valve to regulate the output air-line pressure P1 and drive the actuator, thereby achieving exceptionally high valve positioning accuracy.
  3) The valve-position feedback element features high positioning accuracy and long service life. It is a simple-structured, high-precision, and highly reliable conductive-plastic potentiometer that converts the linear or angular displacement of the actuator into an electrical resistance signal, thereby enabling precise detection of the valve position and facilitating convenient adjustment of the valve’s zero point, full-scale setting, and flow-characteristic curve.
