In China, a wide variety of valve positioners are used, with 3,500 different models and 40,000 distinct specifications.

  (1) Valves for urban construction: Urban infrastructure systems generally use standard low-pressure valves, which are currently trending toward environmentally friendly and energy-efficient designs. Environmentally friendly rubber-seated valves, balancing valves, butterfly valves, and metal-sealed butterfly valves are gradually replacing low-pressure cast-iron gate valves. The valves required for urban development in China mainly include balancing valves, soft-seal gate valves, and butterfly valves.

  (2) Valves for urban heating supply: In thermal systems, a large number of metal-sealed butterfly valves and ball valves are required to achieve hydraulic balance in the pipeline network. Given the extensive underground installation in urban areas, these pipeline valves are essential for addressing both longitudinal and lateral hydraulic imbalances, thereby conserving energy and ensuring thermal equilibrium throughout the system.

  (3) Valves for environmental protection: In domestic and environmental systems, as well as water supply systems, the primary requirements are butterfly valves, soft-seal gate valves, ball valves, and air vents (used to remove air from pipelines). For wastewater treatment systems, the main valve types required are soft-seal gate valves and butterfly valves.

  (4) Valves for municipal gas systems: accounting for 22% of the city’s market, with a large volume of valves used in natural gas applications and a wide variety of types. The primary valve types required are plug valves and pressure-reducing valves.

  (5) Valves for Long-Distance Pipelines: Long-distance pipelines are primarily used for crude oil and natural gas transmission; however, such pipelines are relatively few in number. Most of these pipelines employ forged-steel valves, including full-bore trunnion-mounted ball valves, sulfur-resistant flat-seal gate valves, and check valves.
