The valve positioner was first introduced by FISHER in the 1990s as part of its DVC product series, which significantly enhanced the control performance of control valves and achieved immediate and substantial market success. To this day, this product series continues to hold a leading market share—according to data from ARC Advisory Group in 2007, it accounted for approximately 34% of the global smart valve positioner market that year.

With the continued development of China’s economy, the Chinese market has emerged as the world’s third-largest consumer market for smart positioners, trailing only Western Europe and North America. FISHER, having recognized the importance of the Chinese market at an early stage, was among the first international companies to enter China in the smart positioner sector. Thanks to its outstanding technical specifications and reliable product performance, its DVC series has consistently won strong favor among Chinese customers. Although Honeywell entered the Chinese market somewhat later and initially placed less emphasis on it, its influence still lags behind FISHER’s; nonetheless, owing to its formidable global brand reputation and high product quality, Honeywell has also captured a substantial share of the Chinese market.

Domestic smart locators generally enjoy limited brand recognition and visibility among users due to their relatively modest brand influence compared with international counterparts, resulting in low awareness and acceptance of these products. This poses a significant challenge to the market penetration of domestic smart locators. Therefore, the current product strategy for domestic smart locators should focus on building strong brand awareness among consumers, intensifying promotional efforts, and expanding market share.
