Since June 2024, the 316L stainless steel explosion-proof smart valve positioner—developed in-house by Tuoyou and based on nozzle-flapper technology—has been officially commissioned on CNOOC’s core offshore oil and gas production platforms in the Xijiang and Panyu areas. With an explosion-proof rating of Ex db IIC T6 Gb and constructed from 316L special-grade stainless steel, the device is capable of withstanding the extreme operating conditions found on offshore platforms, including high salt spray and severe corrosion. Following six months of trial operation, the equipment has met all expected performance criteria in terms of explosion-proof integrity, positioning accuracy, and control feedback, successfully passing acceptance testing. Its outstanding performance has enhanced both the safety and operational efficiency of these offshore platforms.
The successful deployment of this positioner not only provides CNOOC with a reliable, domestically developed control solution for operation in harsh environments, but also sets a new benchmark for Tuoyou’s technical capabilities in the offshore engineering sector.
