The reason why valves mostly use pneumatic valves rather than electric doors:

1. Safety considerations

Pneumatic valves are intrinsically safe. In a complex working environment, there is a large amount of electrical equipment and potential electrical interference sources. The electric valve relies on electric drive, once encountered electrical failure, such as short circuit, leakage, overload or electromagnetic interference, its control system is likely to appear misoperation. For example, near the area of strong electromagnetic radiation, the electric valve may receive the wrong signals, and thus accidentally open or close, which will bring serious safety risks to the operation of the whole system.

The pneumatic valve takes compressed air as the working power, and does not rely on electrical signals, so it is minimally affected by electromagnetic interference, and can operate stably and reliably in the complex electrical environment, to ensure the safety of the system. In addition, in areas with flammable and explosive gas near the gas pipeline, the use of electric valve may cause explosion risk due to electric spark and other factors such as, while the pneumatic valve will not produce electric spark in the process of work, so it is safer to use in such dangerous areas.

2. Reliability comparison

Pneumatic valve structure is relatively simple, mainly composed of cylinder, piston, valve body and other components. This simple mechanical structure has a relatively low probability of failure. In contrast, the electric valve contains complex components, such as motor, reducer and control circuit. For example, the motor may be overheating and damaged, and the electronic components in the control circuit may also fail due to aging, damp and other factors.

Pneumatic valve can work stably as long as the compressed air supply is stable and the main components such as cylinders and pistons are normal. In terms of maintenance, the maintenance of the pneumatic valve is relatively simple, and it is easier for the technicians to understand and deal with the problems. Generally, the normal function of the valve can be restored by checking the air source pressure and replacing the seals and other simple operations. The fault diagnosis and maintenance of electric doors need professional electrical knowledge and complex tools.

3. Response speed comparison

Pneumatic valve can be opened and closed quickly. In a factory emergency, such as pipe leakage or overpressure, the valve is required to respond quickly to cut off the fluid. The action speed of the pneumatic valve can be adjusted quickly by adjusting the air source pressure, and can usually be completed in a few seconds or even less time. The action speed of the electric valve is limited by the motor speed, the reducer transmission ratio and other factors, and the action is relatively slow. For example, in cases where an emergency cut off of steam pipe is required, pneumatic valves can prevent steam leakage faster and reduce accident losses.

4. Cost factors

From a cost perspective, pneumatic valves have advantages in terms of both initial investment and operating costs. The pneumatic valve itself is usually priced less than the electric door of equivalent specifications because of its simple structure and no complex motor and control circuit components. In terms of operating costs, although compressed air is required to be provided, the compressed air system can serve multiple pneumatic equipment. After sharing the cost, the operating cost of each pneumatic valve is relatively low. Moreover, in terms of energy efficiency, pneumatic valve has some advantages compared with electric valve in some cases, and its energy consumption is mainly the consumption of compressed air.

5. Environmental adaptability

In terms of environmental adaptability, the pneumatic valves perform well. The factory working environment may be very bad, including high temperature, humidity, dust and other conditions. The main working components of the pneumatic valve are metal and seal parts, which have a good tolerance to temperature and humidity changes. The electronic components in the electric door are prone to the influence of high temperature and humidity and failure. For example, in the high temperature environment, the performance of the electronic components may decline, leading to the failure of valve control.

Based on the advantages of high safety, strong reliability, fast response speed, low cost and good environmental adaptability, the valves in the factory use more pneumatic valves rather than electric doors.
