Principles and Structural Standards of Valve Positioners
2017-08-09
After adopting an electro-pneumatic valve positioner, the 0–10 mA or 4–20 mA DC current signal output by the electric controller can be used to operate the pneumatic actuator. An electro-pneumatic valve positioner performs the dual functions of an electro-to-pneumatic transducer and a pneumatic valve positioner. As shown in the figure, this is the schematic diagram of the operating principle and the actual physical view of a ZPD-2000 electro-pneumatic valve positioner. (1) The valve positioner comprises a torque motor assembly consisting of a permanent magnet 1, a magnetic core 2, a coil, an armature (i.e., the main lever 3), and an air gap; this assembly serves as the conversion element that transforms electrical current into force (torque). The magnetic core and the armature are made of high-permeability material.
Analysis of the Operating Principle of Valve Positioners in Regulating Output Air Supply Pressure
2017-08-11
An electric valve positioner is one of the key accessories for pneumatic control valves, serving to convert the electrical signal output by the control unit into a pneumatic signal that actuates the valve. It provides valve positioning functionality by both overcoming stem friction and compensating for unbalanced forces caused by changes in process pressure, thereby enabling the valve to track the control signal rapidly and accurately, achieving fast valve positioning and enhancing control performance. Operating principle of intelligent electric valve positioners for regulating the output air supply pressure: 1) Output pressure regulation employs PID pulse-width modulation (PWM) technology, ensuring rapid and precise response. Due to the CPU’s ability to…
Principle of Pneumatic Valve Positioners
2017-08-17
A pneumatic valve positioner is mounted on a pneumatic control valve to provide precise positioning. When used in conjunction with the control valve, the positioner incorporates a double-acting pneumatic actuator, ensuring reliable operation and maintaining high efficiency. Owing to its excellent performance and functionality, it has found extensive application in various automation fields.
Implementation Principle and User Guide for the Fault-Lock Function (Three-Condition Position-Holding) of the TORLEO Smart Valve Positioner
2017-08-21
I. Introduction Fault-locking (three-failure position-holding) refers to the positioning device maintaining the valve in its position prior to the failure when power is lost, the signal is interrupted, or the air supply is cut off, thereby achieving position holding. For valves that have been properly adjusted, the most fundamental solution for ensuring position holding under any of these three failure conditions is to effectively shut off the air supply line to the valve whenever one of the three failures occurs—power loss, signal interruption, or air-supply failure—and to rely on the air-tightness of the valve’s pneumatic actuator to lock the valve in the position it was in at the moment the failure occurred. For conventional positioners that do not inherently possess three-failure position-holding functionality (such as those from leading imported brands like SIEMENS, Fisher, and Azbil),
Analysis of the Performance Characteristics of Valve Positioners
2017-08-22
The introduction of valve positioners has provided advanced tools for digital communication among field actuators and for plant-wide integrated management. The TZID/TZID-C breaks with the traditional concept of positioners by adopting TEIP11 as its core component, integrating microprocessor technology and built-in communication functionality. Valve positioners have the following key features: 1. Standard configuration includes a specially designed enclosure that effectively shields against interference signals; 2. A unique patented technology—the “three-loss protection” function—ensures that the valve remains in its current position in the event of power failure, signal loss, or air supply loss, eliminating the need for external solenoid valves and power-failure comparators. This offers three significant advantages: A
What are the classifications of valve positioners?
2017-08-25
Valve positioners are classified by structure into pneumatic valve positioners, electric valve positioners, and smart valve positioners. They are essential accessories for control valves and are typically used in conjunction with pneumatic control valves. The positioner receives the output signal from the controller and uses this signal to regulate the pneumatic control valve. Once the control valve actuates, the displacement of the valve stem is fed back to the positioner via a mechanical linkage, and the valve position is transmitted to the higher-level system as an electrical signal. Classification of Positioners 1. Valve positioners are categorized by input signal into pneumatic valve positioners, electric valve positioners, and smart valve positioners. (1) The input signal for a pneumatic valve positioner is a standard pneumatic…
